CMO: "It's Not One Job, It's at Least Three"

Seth Godin is brilliant. His insights into human behavior, marketing, business, workplace, and trends are worth noting. And he posts every day — like our own Rob Norman in the Daily Jolt.

This one, posted December 5, 2023, resonated with me with regard to private school marketers. It’s why we founded InspirED…to help change leadership’s mindset about MarCom, give it a seat at the table, and provide more resources for it with regard to personnel and funding. And then to watch the powerful results for admissions, development, alumni/ae relations, community relations, and more and more.

Seth writes:

It’s easy to be confused about this job, because it’s not one job, it’s at least three.

This is why it’s a difficult job to fill, and why turnover is so high–we’re not allocating resources or setting expectations in a way that matches the work to be done.
